About Us
The Blazers Hockey Club is a women’s hockey team in Kenya that plays in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Women’s Premier League. We are one of Kenya’s most decorated women’s hockey clubs, carrying a proud legacy
that stretches back to 1989, when the team was established as Posta Kenya.

Different names. Different eras.
One club. One culture. One extraordinary legacy.
From its earliest years, the club established itself as a formidable force in Kenyan women’s hockey. In
1991, just two years after its formation, the team won its first national women’s league title, marking the
beginning of a remarkable championship tradition.
The club also made its mark beyond Kenya. In 1997, it made its debut at the African Club Championship, securing a bronze medal. The following year, in 1998, the team captured its first African Club Championship title, announcing itself as a major force on the continental stage.

THE TELKOM ERA
As Telkom, the club entered one of the most dominant periods in the history of Kenyan women’s hockey.
Beginning with the 1999 season, Telkom embarked on an extraordinary run of domestic success. The club went on to establish a record-breaking period of dominance, winning 20 consecutive Kenyan women’s league titles from 1999 to 2018.
This era cemented the club’s reputation as a powerhouse of Kenyan hockey. Success was not limited to the domestic league. Telkom repeatedly represented Kenya at the African Club Championship and became one of the continent’s most successful women’s hockey clubs. In 2018, the team won its 10th African continental title, defeating Ghana Revenue Authority 2–0 in the final.
The club’s strength was also reflected in its contribution to the national team. Over the years, numerous Telkom players represented Kenya at major international competitions, with the club becoming an important pathway for developing elite Kenyan hockey talent.
THE TRANSITION TO BLAZERS
In 2019, following the end of Telkom’s long-standing sponsorship, the team transitioned to the name Blazers Hockey Club. The transition marked a new chapter rather than the end of the club’s story. The players, coaches, culture, competitive spirit and championship mentality continued. Blazers inherited the proud history of the Posta Kenya and Telkom teams and carried that legacy into a new generation

In its first season under the Blazers identity, the team continued its winning tradition by securing the 2019 Kenya Hockey Union Women’s Premier League title, further demonstrating that the championship culture of the club was still very much alive.
Blazers Era
Blazers has continued to be a leading force in Kenyan women’s hockey, competing at the highest level of the Kenya Hockey Union Premier League and continuing to develop players capable of representing Kenya at international level.
The club reclaimed the KHU Women’s Premier League championship in 2024, adding another chapter to an already extraordinary history.
Beyond trophies, Blazers remains committed to developing players, supporting the growth of women’s hockey and creating opportunities for the next generation.
The club’s players and coaches have continued to contribute to Kenyan hockey not only through competition, but also through coaching, mentorship and player development.
